Hawaii Day 7

We woke up early on Friday to go to Hanauma Bay to snorkel since it was going to be open. As we were getting to the pull off, there was a sign saying that the parking lot was full! So we stopped at a scenic pull off and talked about what we were going to do. We could wait for a spot to open up or we could park down the hill about a mile away and just walk into the park. We decided to just park and walk. It wasn't too bad of a hike and the views of the ocean were amazing to look at. We had to watch a short movie about what not to do at the park and then wait about 30 minutes to actually rent some snorkel gear. The park was so full of people that we had to wait for the to return the gear in order to rent it.

Finally, we were able to get my gear and head to the water. This snorkeling experience was by far the best one! The water was so clear and there were so many fish swimming around through the coral. The fish even came right up to us! It was a bit scary at first having them so close especially the HUGE fish. It was so much fun and such a beautiful day to go snorkeling. We were so glad that we decided to go even though it was very busy.

View of Hanauma Bay
Just look at all that coral!
After spending the afternoon snorkeling we headed back to the Nair's to get cleaned up. We then made our way to visit the Dole Pineapple Plantation. It was fun to be able to see how a pineapple grows and even be able to eat some tasty treats! We picked up some macadamia nuts covered in pineapple flavored white chocolate. They are delicious might I add! While there we actually got to meet a boy that is on the Disney Channel's show Good Luck Charlie. We should have asked for a picture but we didn't want to bother them.

Enjoying some yummy pineapple ice cream.
Did you know that a pineapple grows from a plant not a tree?
This was the coolest looking tree. At first glance we thought that it was painted but its not.
Yes, we love ourselves some pineapple!!
There was an artist at the plantation who wrote our last name and framed it. It turned out so good. We are excited to hang it in our home.
On our way back to the house Amanda took us to another ancient Hawaiian site called the Birthing Stones that was near by. The history behind these stones was that the Ancient Hawaiian chiefs would take their wives to these scared stones to deliver their babies. It was considered very sacred to the people. How would you like to deliver your baby there? It was quite a site to see. It also had a very peaceful and spiritual feeling surrounding it.
That night we went out to a restaurant called Buca di Peppo. The portion sizes are for giants! We split two dishes between the four of us and were completely stuffed. The food was delicious and we had a lot of fun just being able to talk with each other. The restaurant was decorated with some of the oddest pictures. It just made the experience even better.  We couldn't pass up on dessert which was a giant sized brownie ice cream dessert.  Yes, if you are wondering we did finish all the food with the help of Mark and Solomon :) We really enjoyed spending the evening with the Nairs and eating some great food. There was no better way to end a great day!
It even came with a GIANT spoon to eat it with!
Italian Soda, Yum!!
