Celebrating Halloween

Halloween turned out to be a fun adventure. We were pretty exhausted from the past week so we slept in and got some house work done. Grandpa and Grandma Mendoza and Uncle Reagan and Aunt Maria came up in the afternoon to help us celebrate. Because of the crazy week, we still hadn't carved pumpkins so we took the family to a nearby pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins to carve. Owen thought the pumpkins were so much fun!

We got back to the house and started carving our pumpkins! Vanessa and Owen got to paint their pumpkins. Owen eventually ate the paint (not to worry, it was the kid friendly kind) and got very upset so I didn't get a picture of him painting it. Vanessa's looked like blueberry by the time she was finished. She really enjoyed painting it. Maria and Reagan carved some good faces into theirs. Mark and I had fun using our imaginations to create ours. I love carving pumpkins. It is one of my favorite things about Halloween! And it is such a fun family activity!

(Vanessa's blueberry, Mark's evil pumpkin, Sabrina's silly pumpkin, and Owen's masterpiece)

Because there was lots of family members still around we had a big Halloween party at Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen's house. The weather wasn't too bad. It was sprinkling when we first started to Trick or Treat but later stopped. Vanessa was still not feeling the best so she wasn't as excited to go Trick or Treating. What a bummer to be sick on Halloween :( Owen really got into it. He got so excited when he got to pick the candy. His favorite candy right now is a sucker so he chose that every time! We only went to a few house because it was getting cold and the kids were losing interest at the very end. All in all, we had a lot of fun being together for Halloween and playing games, ping pong and visiting with everybody.
